NYCC: Four Essential Booths to Visit

Nikolai Fomich writes for Bleeding Cool:

There are thousands of booths and tables at New York Comic Con – here are four attendees should definitely check out.

Locust Moon Press (Artist Alley V7) – Josh O'Neill on Little Nemo: Dream Another Dream:

Locust Moon Press

"Little Nemo: Dream Another Dream is a tribute to Winsor McCay and Little Nemo, his turn of the century newspaper strip, by many of the greatest artists working in comics today. There's a 118 strips by a 140 contributors, and each of them takes advantage of McCay's incredible universe and the influence of his amazing work…We have some advance copies to sell [at the table], very few, so we'll probably sell out quickly. The book doesn't come out in comic shops until November, [so] we're pretty excited to be able to get it in front of people!"

IDW (1844) – Walt Simonson on the Manhunter Artist's Edition:

Walt Simonson

"I think the deal with IDW's Artist's Editions – and Manhunter in particular, but all of them – is that [it's] as close as you're going to get to look at the original artwork. It's all been reproduced very carefully from the originals in color, which means all the stuff that you see – which is all my screw-ups [laughter], the white out, the cuts, the paste-ups, the xerography – all that stuff's really clear, and you can see the hand of the artist in the Artist's Editions [in a way] that's not possible in the printed work. In the printed work, we work to make that stuff invisible – in the artist edition, they work to reveal [it]."

Z2 Comics (570) – Josh Frankel on Paul Pope's Escapo and Dean Haspiel's Fear My Dear:

Z2 Comics

"Z2 Comics is a premier graphic novel imprint. We publish fine quality graphic novels and comics. Our first two books solo are Paul Pope's Escapo and Dean Haspiel's Fear My Dear. Escapo is Paul Pope's masterpiece, about an escape artist who escapes death and love, the two most powerful forces on the planet, and does so with great gusto. Our version of Escapo is a reprint that features new material, fully recolored, and a very personal outro by Paul himself. Fear My Dear is Dean Haspiel's opus – it's like beat poetry and it's about two titans whose love is so toxic for each other, it tears up a city."

BOOM! Studios (1344) – Jackson Lanzing on Sirens, Memetic, and Butterfly:

Jackson Lanzing and Chris Miskiewicz

"We have a ton of variants here at the BOOM! Booth – including Adam Hughes' NYCC cover for Sirens, which is pretty exciting. We've got Memetic, which is a new book by James Tynion and Eryk Donovan, a new artist who's an absolute killer – I believe he's actually the recipient of the Wieringo Fellowship. And then we have Butterfly, a new Archaia book which Marguerite Bennett's doing. Hacktivist was an Archaia book, and it was really successful for them – as was Last Broadcast – so we got Butterfly going now, which is going to be awesome. It's got some shades of Alias, some shades of Black Widow – it's really built on trauma. It's built on realism and character."
