Retailers To Get Double Their Orders Of Avengers #35 Before Time Runs Out

Avengers_35_Cover-610x925We haven't had one of these for a while. Marvel have decided to double all retailers' orders for Avengers #35, the first part of Time Runs Out as we take a quick trip to Eight Months Later. Marvel clearly believe that not enough retailers have ordered this puppy and are doing something to fix it.

By giving them twice as much for free.

Some retailers will use them for promotion. Some will use that to discount all copies. Some will see if they can actually sell them all at full price. And depending on its success, retailers might be better equipped to increase orders on subsequent issues.

The "increase print run" promotion lessens the likelihood of second print and reduces revenue on that issue. But, because it's an extended run of the original print, it's a lot less expensive than it might look and doesn't create the technical problems of handling returns.

Oh and Diamond happily record all the free copies as sold copies on their statistics for units sold, so it might top the charts.

So, you know, there's that as well…
