Let's Face It, They're Only Doing This To Make Storm Cry Lots, Right?

At the end of last month's Wolverine & The X-Men did a thing.

x1

So, yes, just before his impending death, Wolverine asks Ororo out on a date. Does it go well?

x6

You could say that, from today's issue of Wolverine & The X-Men. In a pocket chronodimension where time passes at a crawl….

Why is this important? Well, you may remember the last time Storm fell in love, with Black Panther, and got married to him, becoming Queen Of Wakanda. At the time, folk thought this was all terribly rushed and convenient, as various retcons were inserted into their past to justify a continuing relationship over the years that led to marriage.

It wasn't very convincing. And Marvel have learned. Because, when Wolverine dies, they was grief from a committed partner more than just a friend. And so Storm has got together with Wolverine. But even so a week long fling couldn't…

x2

There you go. Months and months pass, while only minutes pass in our world. Just long enough to, well…

x

…grow a beard. And no, that's not meant to be a pun.

Because in Wolverine's own title, also today, the final issue of the series before the Death Of Wolverine mini begins, he has a chat with Kitty Pryde.

Yeah, she'd not going to be happy either. This is like that bit in World War II movies where a RAF pilot talks about going on one last mission before he sees his girl, right?  Because, also from today's Wolverine #12….

So, what happens when Storm, a storm goddess, loses the love of her life (or at least, the past year)?

Yeah, not going to be pretty… but do you think the fans will buy it this time?

Wolverine & The X-Men and Wolverine published by Marvel today.
