Buy Men Of Wrath, Get A Cheaper Thor

This is an interesting one. Normally Marvel Comics publishes the Icon line slightly grudgingly. A creator owned line to keep Marvel exclusive creators in house but keeping them happy to allow them to explore other creator owned work, of late it has been a John Romita Jr and Brian Bendis show.

Men Of Wrath by Jason Aaron and Ron Garney is the first Icon project we've had for a while. The Icon deal is basically the same as the Image Central deal, nothing up front, the publisher paid a flat fee per book, the creators keep the rest of the look. So when it makes Kick Ass numbers then it can make millions

But Image Comics have been doing a better deal when it comes to promoting their books, with returnability for large orders and the like, but Marvel haven't done much of that kind thing, launching Icon titles to sink or swim.

And they want to keep up.

Now, Marvel aren't fond of the old returnability option. So they've tied discount opportunities to that of another book instead. Thor: God Of Thunder #2 , also by Jason Aaron. If you order Men of Wrath at 150% of your Thor #25 orders, you will get an extra discount on your Thor orders.

This could give Men Of Wrath a good start… and also see that it outsells Thor. Which might be a handy selling point for other Marvel creators tempted to take the Image shilling.
