Tact-Tiles are a modular, dry and wet erase, gaming surface. Made from durable rigid plastic, and marked with a 1" grid, Tact-Tiles were an ideal play surface for Dungeons and Dragons, Pathfinder, Savage Worlds or any other game that uses miniatures.

And they're back!

About a decade ago BC Products released the original Tact-Tiles, a new type of gaming surface for miniatures and role-playing games. They were a huge success, but complications in the manufacturing process eventually led to their demise. Remaining Tact-Tiles became harder and harder to find. A few companies tried, but inevitably failed to produce a product of the same quality and versatility. And at their height, sets of the original Tact-Tiles sold for as much as $300 on eBay.

But now, through the miracle of Kickstarter, Void Star Studios is bringing Tact-Tiles back.

It all started several years ago when I, Mike McConnell, stumbled upon a post about Tact-Tiles on ENWorld. Trace Cooper, one of the founders of BC Products, was answering questions about Tact-Tiles on the ENWorld messageboard. And I noticed that we both lived in the same city, Huntsville, AL. Looking for a gaming group, I reached out to him.

Fast forward a few years. I have been welcomed into Trace's tight-knit group of friends and family, and we still game together just about every weekend. You couldn't ask for a better batch of friends. But unfortunately, family troubles and production woes eventually meant the end of BC Products. And that meant the end of Tact-Tiles.

I always hoped we'd find a way to bring them back. And now we have!

A few years ago I founded Void Star Studios. A little indie RPG publisher, VSS found success early on with Strands of Fate, a Platinum Best Seller on DrivethruRPG. We went on to launch our first Kickstarter for Nova Praxis, a transhuman sci-fi game utilizing the Fate system (also a Platinum seller), and most recently used Kickstarter to fund a Savage Worlds edition of Nova Praxis.

Emboldened by that success, I worked with Trace and Tom (the other BC Products co-founder) to get the rights and mold for the original Tact-Tiles. With the help of my friend and business partner Steve Townsley, we began working through the production issues, hunting suppliers, distributers, etc. We produced a few sets of prototype tiles, and were able to demo them with great success at GenCon this year.

The Kickstarter for Tact-Tiles is now coming to an end. As of the time of this writing, we have 4 days left, and are less than $10K away from reaching our goal of $90,000. So if you're interested, check them out, and help us bring back a classic!
