Preview Image's Oddly Normal – Dirigibles And Nefarious Mysteries For All Ages

It's not all that common for Image Comics to put out a truly all-ages title, and when they do, like many mainstream comics and animated films, it's with an eye toward creating something adults might well enjoy and pick up, and certainly won't be writhing with the tweeness of a kiddie title while reading with their offspring.

Oddly Normal by Otis Frampton reminds me of many works that are appearing in graphic novel format these days like Courtney Crumrin from Oni Press or Spera from Archaia, and even the occasional all-ages graphic novel from Scholastic that takes on more fantastical themes. But for me, and I think for many readers, there's still an appeal it the single issue format, and the large floppy trade paperbacks that Image offer at quite affordable prices. The glossiness and attention paid to the artwork in this format is attractive, and that all adds to the package on Oddly Normal.
