Why Valerie D'Orazio And Bobby Timony Are Horror Lovers
I am currently writing articles for the Hallowe'en edition of Bleeding Cool magazine. I'm not the only one looking ahead. Diamond have announced the Halloween Comic Fest free comics, DC have launched their Monster variant covers and the October solicitations are about to go live.
And Valerie D'Orazio and Bobby Timony have kicked off their crowdfunding venture for The Horror Lovers, a new horror-based comic book to be published in October. We're big fans of Valerie's work in particular here at Bleeding Cool, so I feel a donation coming on. They describe the comic as,
a love-letter to the types of slapstick movies, humor comics and grade-B horror movies the creators loved as a child: the frenetic antics of the Marx Brothers, beloved and bizarre 1950s MAD parodies by Harvey Kurtzman, and preposterous and brilliant creature-features by Roger Corman and Ed Wood.
The first issue features an Introduction by Craig Yoe (the editor/curator of "Haunted Horror" and "Popeye" for IDW/Yoe Books), pinups by legendary artists Paul Gulacy andFred Hembeck, neo-classic "Archie" artist Dan Parent, the acclaimed Dennis Caleroand "Wapsi Square's" Paul Taylor.
There will also be a Kickstarter Exclusive cover, offered in the incentives, by Xeric grant-winning Kevin Colden ("The Crow," "Fishtown").
And the modest stretch goal will produce a SECOND issue of HORROR LOVERS for early 2015, featuring pinups by Dan Goldman, Josh Bayer, Andrew Pepoy, and more!
