Hot Comics – The One Hundred Dollar Club (May 2014)

Scalped_1Following on from the Three HundredTwo Hundred Dollar Club and One Hundred And Fifty Club runarounds on eBay, here's a look at modern day comic books that have recently sold copies for over a hundred dollars.  All raw copies, no slabbing here, no variant covers, no artificial collect-ability, just the standard books that, if you have them in your collection, could pay your rent for a few months.

Ultimate Spider-Man #1 – $140 – the beginning of the Ultimate Marvel line,

Walking Dead #92 – $137

Wolverine #1 –$134 – well, they actually turned this comic into a movie.

Uncle Scrooge #310 – $130 – low print runs combined with intense, concentrated interest…

Scalped #1 – $130 – the DC Vertigo comic that is now a new TV show that's following the path of previous…

GI Joe Special #1 – $127 = McFarlane and GI Joe and low print runs…

Batman: Harley Quinn$127 – the second DCU comic appearance of the character.

NYX #3 – $127 – First appearance of X-23.

GI Joe #155 –$125 – final issue of the series that no one ordered because it was the final issue of the series.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 (3rd Printing) – $125

Evil Ernie #1 – $125 – recently revived, recently blown up

Charles Burn's Free Shit #15 – $122 – few of these available. Hence… not so free anymore.

Cursed Pirate Girl #1 – $122 – small print run, mass market interest, it's going to happen

Rachel Rising #1 – $121 – that TV series is still going down. Recent issues are a lot rarer though.

Wolverine #102.5 – $121 – a sendaway that never reached the direct market

Savage Dragon #137 – $120 – President Obama on the cover

Preacher #12 – $114 – if it's still bagged

Sandman #1 – $112 – Overture and multi-media has given this one a push.

Walking Dead #9 – $110

Walking Dead #1 Serbian – $110 – even the Serbian language edition is getting mad attention.

Grimm Fairy Tales #1 $110 – the first of the Zenescope line, now getting more popular thanks to Grimm, Fables and Once Upon A Time.

Swamp Thing $37 – $110 – First Constantine. and now there's that TV trailer…

X-Factor #6 – $109 – First Apocalypse, and now there's that X-Men Days Of Future Past post credit scene…

Walking Dead #8 – $110

Batman #386 – $107 – First Black Mask

Runaways #1 – $102 – they have to bring this back, right? The Marvel screenplay has been written.

Akira #38 – $101 – final issue syndrome, with guest appearances from Moebius, Warren Ellis and more.

Uncanny X-Men #266 – $100 – first Gambit. And now he has a spinoff film…

Secret Wars #8 – $100 – First Black costume for Spider-Man.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 (2nd print) – $100

Tarot: Witch Of The Black Rose #1 – $100 – Blimey.

Tales Of The TMNT #71 – $100 – recreating TMNT #8 without Cerebus…

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #24 – $100  – after Image cancelled the series with #23, fans put out the final two issues…

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #25 – $100 – with a cover from Kevin Eastman to give it credence.

Daredevil #168 –$100 – First Elektra

The Stuff Of Legends #1 – $100 – Wow. This one has done rather well for itself since those early days when we raved about it.
