Pop Apocalypse Now-Ish

kickstarter project photo #1

Matt Stills writes,

All this month through until April 30th my comic project, PopApocalypse is running a crowd funding campaign through Kickstarter. I've spent over a year developing the world behind PopApcalypse on my own while creating the first issue. Finally at the beginning of this month I am proud to say I felt like it was ready to drop on all your faces. So far, the response has been staggering as I met my initial goal in less than a week, and have had fans and friends sending in fan art of the characters as they spread the word of my comic into the internet. So far, this has been a true testament to Kickstarters ability to introduce comics to a world where it's hard to get noticed, with a rich selection of creator-owned books just waiting to be published. Without further adieu, allow me to introduce my project:

What is the PopApocalypse?

It's been ten years since World War 3, better known as the "Advertising War," ravaged the world. During the conflict, our biggest companies became aware of the media attention the war drew, and began thinking of the it as an opportunity to secure more costumers than ever before. What resulted was an arms race where every major corporation invested the sponsored creation of mascot themed super-soldiers , horrifically mutated monster warriors, platoons of licensed mercenaries, and specialized weapons of mass destruction that left the earth scarred with gigantic corporate logos. None of the corporate fat c

ats imagined that the "Advertising Wars" would set the world back into a third world stone age before the conflict was done, taking it's governments and it's economy with it.

My story basically takes place ten years after this big war went down, with all these crazy mascot-warrior characters battling each other, conspiring against each other, or simply just trying to survive. I've written many stories, some of which are in the works right now with very talented artists at the helm, but PopApocalypse is really my passion project. I grew up with the Ninja Turtles, and all the ridiculousness that came with them, as well as the X-Men, Batman, The Ultimate Marvel Universe and everything that was the 90's. Really what this comic is to me is a love letter to my childhood, with Easter eggs galore on every page, a plot that will entice you, action that will amaze you, and characters that you won't be able to help but like. What you'll find in this comic, for example, is the Colonel in a white suit and flake jacket, roaming the country and killing monsters along with his highly trained soldiers on the backs of giant armor-clad war chickens. Trust me, it's awesome.

Now, with the help of Bleeding Cool, I'm going to try to get my comic out to more and more people with an added incentive: I'll be doing a special exclusive "Bleeding Cool" pledge reward running through until Monday, where every person who either ups their pledge or pledges for the first time with even as low as one dollar will receive a special PopApocalypse postcard with a never before seen character plastered all over it! So, please check out my Kickstarter campaign, and I thank you for your consideration!
