First Teaser For The Fargo TV Series – Billy Bob Thornton Gets To Work‏

I’m hoping that FX’s TV spin-off from Fargo has half of the class, wit and humanity of the Coen Bros. original film. It certainly has some of the same flair in casting, putting Billy Bob Thornton in the Steve Buscemi or Peter Stormare criminal role, Martin Freeman in the self-defeating little man William H. Macy role and Allison Tolman as the female cop investigating the case.

But none of these are actually playing characters from the film and this seems instead to be a remix of the original Fargo’s tropes, mashing them all up into a new, if curiously familiar, story.

Here’s the first teaser, with thanks to CinemaBlend for the heads up.

Like True Detective and American Horror Story, Fargo promises to tell an entirely new story with each season. That’s if there’s more than one, and I guess we’ll have to wait for April and the show’s premiere to get some idea of how likely second servings will be.
