The CW's The Flash Casts John Wesley Shipp, Star Of 1990s The Flash Series

shipp-flash The CW's The Flash pilot has cast someone who's already very familiar with the world he's about to step into: John Wesley Shipp, the star of the short-lived 1990s CBS series of the same name, according to THR.

Shipp, who will always be recognized for being Dawson's dad on Dawson's Creek by some section of the population, played Barry Allen in 22 episodes on CBS in the 1990-1991 TV season. Alas, the world clearly wasn't ready for comic book adaptations aimed at people older than cartoon-watchers quite yet, and the show was soon canceled.

In 2014, we are a lot more accepting of live action comic book adaptations, and Grant Gustin will probably last quite a bit longer as Allen, the super speedster and resident DC hero of Central City, after having first made an appearance on sister show Arrow.

They're not saying who Shipp will be playing in the pilot, but I'm assuming this is just a nice little nod for fans.
