Ricky Gervais To Receive A Big Fat Czech For New Version Of The Office

czech_the-office

BBC Worldwide has announced a sale of The Office format to Czech Television, six episodes to go into production next month.

They quote Ricky Gervais, star and co-writer of the original saying "I'm extremely flattered and excited that there is about to be a new version of The Office. Prague was the first place in the world to produce a stage version, so I'm very glad a local adaptation is coming to TV too. Cue jokes about Gervais and another fat Cheque"

That's a good idea, I'll put it in the headline.

The show will star Václav Kopta, is confirmed to play the lead part of Marek Chvála, the local version of David Brent, and will be the ninth version of the show sold as a format to other countries, including the NBC version starring Steve Carell. Instead of Slough, the series will be set in Brno.

We look forward to the office stapler being hidden in a plate of velikonoční beránek…
