Unconventional New Trailer For Boxtrolls Reveals The Magic Of Stop Motion‏

Here’s a new teaser trailer for Laika’s stop motion picture, The Boxtrolls. Watch it first, and then we’ll talk about it.

And that’s how it’s done, from designs through to moving animation though, as an iPad ad might say, the sequence was shortened. But certainly not lightened of wonder.

I’ve spoken to several stop motion animators and, every time, it was all I could to to not jump on them and hug them. Really, I feel like sending a crate of cupcakes to Laika right now. These folk carry off this incredibly taxing, all too often thankless task, creating sheer cinematic magic for us with hardly any recognition.

Well, I’m certainly grateful. And I do wish I could do what they do.
