Report: Billy Dee Williams Headed Back To The Star Wars Universe For Rebels – UPDATED: The Plot Thickens

Star Wars Rebels Concept Art 2

According to a tweet spotted by the good burghers of Jedi News, Billy Dee Williams has said that he’ll be recording some voice work for the new Star Wars animated series, Rebels.

Here’s the tweet in question:

Definitely my second favourite Billy Dee Williams-related tweet of the week after this little gem:

It’s possible, I suppose, that Williams could be joining Rebels as a new character. Animated shows often have voice over artists perform many different roles. Most likely, though, he’d be returning to the role of Lando Calrissian and that wouldn’t be a bad thing, especially if he’s going to wear his lovely cape.

UPDATE: We’ve now been pointed at the audio of the full Rhode Island panel and you can hear what Williams said.

He seems to believe this is for a Netflix project, but also calls it Rebels. What is it really? Something on Netflix that Williams confused for Star Wars Rebels? Couldn’t be those Darth Vader TV specials, could it?
