Robert Zemeckis To Direct A Drama Based On Marwencol, Wants Leonardo DiCaprio For The Lead

Jeff Malmberg’s documentary, Marwencol, is an utterly captivating look at the life of Mark Hogancamp, who, following a severe beating, built a one-sixth scale town in his back garden called Marwencol.

The town is themed around World War II and is a form of therapy for Hogancamp, both physically and mentally.

Variety are reporting today that Robert Zemeckis has signed on to direct a dramatic feature for Universal based on Mark Hogancamp’s life and the documentary. Zemeckis’ first choice to play Hogancamp is reportedly Leonardo DiCaprio.

You watch the trailer for Marwencol below and at the time of writing the documentary was available to watch on Netflix.
