Hunt For Red October Author Tom Clancy Passes Away

Author Tom Clancy Signs His New Book, "Red Rabbit"The New York Times is reporting that acclaimed author Tom Clancy passed away yesterday in Baltimore. The creator of the Jack Ryan series of novels was known for for his technically detailed espionage and militiary science novels set in the post cold war era.

Clancy got a bump in popularity when President Ronald Reagan praised his first novel The Hunt For Red October. The book went on to become a best seller.

Multiple movies brought the Jack Ryan character to the bring screen with multiple actors. Alec Baldwin in The Hunt For Red October, Harrison Ford in both Clear And Present Danger and The Patriot Games and Ben Affleck in Sum Of All Fears. A new version of Ryan is being worked on called Jack Ryan: Shadow One directed by Kenneth Branagh and starring Star Trek’s Chris Pine.

A new Jack Ryan novel, Command Authority, is scheduled to be released December 3rd, 2013.
