Casting Roundup: A Not-So-Secret Jennifer Lawrence Cameo Rocks The Interwebs

jlaw Apparently people are really, really touchy about spoilers. A Jennifer Lawrence cameo (which is, admittedly, a pretty cool get for any movie) got spilled today, and the internet flipped out. Oh well. Since it’s already out there, it, and the rest of today’s castings, below in today’s roundup.

Jennifer Lawrence has filmed a “secret” cameo in the new Dumb and Dumber sequel. Except it really wasn’t much of a secret as she had dinner with the Farrelly brothers and Jeff Daniels a week ago and has never hid the fact that Dumb and Dumber is basically her favorite movie ever. Rob Riggle is in the film too, and probably annoyed their castings got announced on the same day. [THR / THR]

Angelina Jolie has cast another promising young actor in Unbroken. Chronicle’s Alex Russell – who has not had as much breakout success as co-stars Dane DeHaan and Michael B. Jordan – will play older brother Pete to Jack O’Connell’s Louis Zamperini. Garrett Hedlund, Finn Winntrock and Domhnall Gleeson co-star. [Inside Film]

The Giver cast just gets weirder and weirder. First they cast a 25 year old guy (Brenton Thwaites) to play a 12 year old character, then cast actors practically his same age (Alexander Skarsgard and Katie Holmes) to play his parents, and now they’ve added Taylor Swift into the mix. That’s right, she’ll be in the film, not writing a song for it. No word on who she’ll play yet but it really doesn’t even matter, does it? [THR]

• A key piece of casting for season 4 of Game of Thrones is in place, with British actor Joel Fry set to play Hizdahr zo Loraq, who crosses paths with Emilia Clarke’s Khaleesi Daenerys Targaryen. I’m not caught up with the show past the first season so you’ll excuse me if I don’t go digging for spoiler-filled details on his character. [EW]

• Psychological thriller Mojave has added Walton Goggins to join Garrett Hedlund and Oscar Isaac. The story is about an artist who goes into the desert to have a spiritual experience only to run into a dangerous drifter instead. Hedlund and Isaac have those two roles locked up, so it’s not clear who Goggins would play just yet. [Deadline]
