Greg Capullo Is No Longer Angry At The New York Comic Con – UPDATE

Update: Seems like this story has a happy ending…

Capullo

Original post is below:

Greg Capullo is upset. The artist for Batman, Spawn, The Creech and more is ready to ditch the New York Comic Con and sign for fans outside his hotel… why? He was denied a badge for his eldest step son. Capullo is not just attending the show, he is one of their guests… one of the names they are using to get folks to buy tickets.

Capullo is also scheduled to appear at a DC Comics panel during the weekend. The artist took to twitter to tell the tale.

I contacted ReedPOP for comment and received an email back from Kim Mueller, Director of Content and Talent.

As you know the event has sold out for the year, and these capacity numbers are based on safety and security as set by the fire marshal. So in other words a lot of people want badges and tickets to New York comic con that can't get them and we know how difficult that can be.

Because we know the demand will outstrip the supply we created policies for speakers artists guests exhibitors etc. on how many additional passes they are entitled to. These policies are in place to ensure that as many fans as humanly possible can come to the show, after all the fans are the reason all of us do this. As for Greg we are working with him on his concerns and as we do with every other segment of New York Comic Con will do our best to make him happy while also assuring that as many fans that want to attend the show have ticket availability to do so.

Having spent the Phoenix Comic Con sitting directly across from Capullo and watching how much time and effort he spent meeting his fans, I hope New York Comic Con can find an extra badge lying about as Capullo is someone that you really want at your show. The show is October 10th-13th at the Javits Center in New York.
