When The Headline Says Peter Davison Is Going To Be In The Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special But The Story Doesn't

peter davidson fifth doctor celery in his pocket and a frown on his faceThere’s a lot going on for the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who, not just the special episode, The Day of the Doctor.

Somewhere amongst that stuff, Fifth Doctor Peter Davison is going to show up. He’s said so, publicly, including in a new interview with the gossip syndication machine, Bang Showbiz.

Here’s exactly what Davison said:

I’m making an appearance somewhere over that period of time but I can’t reveal in what. I can’t reveal anything specific about it. I’m not allowed to. It is a big year for the show and we’re all doing our bit for it. Trust me.

This lead, of course, to Female First running the headline:

Peter Davison to Be in Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Episode

And… well, I suppose that’s technically fair. Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Episode Of… Something Else might have been more accurate, mind you. Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Episode Of… Something Else That You’ve Never Seen Before And Will Only Have One Episode And Is Probably A Talking Heads Clip Show Or Some Live Audience Chat Program Thing would probably have been more accurate still. Throw in a mention of Graham Norton and I think we’re nearing 1:1 probability.

Nonetheless, I’m pretty sure that you’l get to see Davidson’s face in The Day of the Doctor, but not that he had to show up on set to provide it. Moffat lies, though, and anything is possible, so maybe, maybe Davidson will be in the special after all.

If not, there’s always the 51st anniversary The Two Peters special that the BBC simply must be cooking up, right? The second part of the epic Doctorganger story that gets started in The Two Colins?
