First Clip From Catherine Breillat’s Abuse Of Weakness, Starring Isabelle Huppert

Based on Catherine Breillat’s book of the same name, Abuse of Weakness stars Isabelle Huppert as a director named Maud, reportedly a surrogate for  Breillat, and Kool Sheen as Vilko Piran.

Today we got our first clip from the film and in it Breillat is playing some very interesting games with perspective.

I’m not convinced the choice to make Huppert look very small in the frame entirely works – it’s pushed just a bit too far – but its certainly an interesting choice.

Abuse of Weakness plays the New York Film Festival in October and will open in France in February 2014. No word yet on release dates for any other countries.
