Listen: Karen O's The Moon Song From Spike Jonze's Her

Karen O The Moon SongI was rather smitten with the trailer for Spike Jonze’s Her.

I commented at the time about the use of Aphex Twin‘s Avril 14th in the trailer but there was another track in there that I didn’t recognise.

It later transpired that this was a new song from the Yeah Yeah Yeah‘s Karen O, which will be sung in the film by Joaquin Phoenix’s character and an operating system named Samantha, voiced by Scarlett Johansson, that he falls in love with.

The track has now been put online in full at Soundcloud and is also available to download for free. You’ll need to be quick though as, according to Pitchfork, the track is limited to 10,000 free downloads. At the time of writing it was still available for download.

In addition to this track by Karen O, who also worked with Spike Jonze on his film Where the Wild Things Are, the soundtrack will also feature original music by Arcade Fire.

Her will be released in limited locations in America on the 18th of December before opening wide on the 10th of January 2014.
