I Don’t Think Simon Pegg Has Been Cast As Ant Man, I Think He’s Just Pulling Our Legs

Simon Pegg has been in to see the guys at Marvel today, and like Vin Diesel before him, he’s been posting some pictures to prove he was there.

But has he also taken another leaf out of Diesel’s book? Has he decided to break some big casting news with a crafty picture post via social media?

Here are the pics that Pegg shared. Look out for the pointer he’s giving us.

I’m sure that almost everybody noticed how in the first of those pictures, Pegg is pointing at Ant Man.

It’s easy to jump to conclusions. Movies.com, for example, say that Pegg’s gesture is:

as if to confirm he’s been chosen to portray the Marvel superhero in a movie due out in November of 2015. Coincidentally, that movie is also being directed by Pegg’s friend and collaborator, Edgar Wright. Hmmm …

Pegg and Edgar Wright‘s newest film, The World’s End, is set for release in US cinemas next Friday, August 23rd. Whether or not he’s really teasing a secret bit of casting or just teasing in general – and I’ll bet you now that it’s the latter – Pegg has probably done the publicity for The World’s End any amount of good.

And that’s fair enough, this rumour made itself, really, and I’m happy to plug The World’s End as much as Pegg likes.

Incidentally, Pegg and Ant Man‘s co-writer and director  Wright were at Marvel in order to record a podcast. Again, more PR for The World’s End. Again, good for them.

UPDATE: And this twitter exchange makes it pretty clear how this whole situation is going down.
