Disney Officially Announce The Cast Of Into The Woods – Johnny Depp, Meryl Streep, Anna Kendrick And More

Anna Kendrick

Anna Kendrick

When I was at Shepperton studios recently for… a top secret mission that you’d be so jealous of you’d start trying to steal my identity right away, I saw that Disney were starting pre-production on Into The Woods, their adaptation of lots of fairytales all at once.

The film was just given an official announcement at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, with Disney’s Sean Bailey naming several cast members:

  • Johnny Depp as The Big Bad Wolf
  • Meryl Streep as The Witch
  • Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine and Emily Blunt in as-yet unspecified roles

I believe Kendrick is playing Cinderella, and that may be why they didn’t name her rol specifically as the next film on the D23 to-do list is… Cinderella. Could be confusing.

And it will be interesting to see what happens when the films come out just a few months apart, with Into The Woods hitting next Christmas, and Cinderella in March 2015.

Into The Woods will be directed by Rob Marshall, based upon the frankly amazing Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine musical.
