The Mitch Clem New 52 Comics That Never Were

Comics creator Mitch Clem (whose "Nothing Nice to Say" was collected by Dark Horse in 2009) and whose most recent work includes Clem's most recent works include AS YOU WERE, a punk rock anthology released in early 2013, and "My Stupid Life," which has appeared in the pages of RAZORCAKE Magazine since 2007.

He recently revealed a couple of rejected DC proposals from the pre-New 52 era.

The first was Plastic Man, which was rejected because Geoff Johns was planning a Plastic Man revival at the time (which never happened, obviously).

The second started as a Blue Beetle proposal, but ended up as a Blue Beetle/ Booster Gold team-up series called "Blue and Gold." This was shot down because Johns and Dan Jurgens had dibs on the characters.

I was quickly disheartened and ran out of steam and kinda gave up. And that was that, the story of my opportunity to write for the Big Leagues, over before it even began. Now, of course, with the New 52, DC has an infamously tight hold over what they want and how they want it presented, so a fella like me has no chance.

Marvel, on the other hand… I have an X title sitting right here, you guys, ready to go! Let's talk.
