STUDIO FIRE

Man cannot live by digital alone, which is why the Madefire studio are opening their doors for free beer, pizza, and good times with Bill Sienkiewicz and Liam Sharp to celebrate the new Sherlock Holmes Madefire digital comic they are creating. Tomorrow evening at 805 Folger Ave., Berkeley, California 94710.

KICKSTARTER DELIGHT

Dave Wachter and Jim Clark started their comic "The Guns of Shadow Valley" five years ago, which launched as a webcomic instead in 2009. Now, after Eisner and Harvey nominations, they are using Kickstarter to get into print as an oversized hardcover.

"If you can imagine 'X-Men meets The Magnificent Seven', then you have a good idea of The Guns of Shadow Valley and its theme," said Clark.

The team were aiming for $24,000. They currently have over $30,000 with 19 days to go.

I believe the appropriate phrase is "yee hah!"

YOU WILL SUBMIT

ComiXology are launching Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD apps across Europe now. Which is nice. But also, here are a batch of new books being published by ComiXology Submit – look to find something a little different.

Think of the Children
Written By Christian Sager
Drawn By EC Steiner
Pages: 28, SRP: $0.99

COMICS MAKE KIDS EVIL! That's a fact. Or at least it was in 1954, when the United States Senate Subcommittee to Investigate Juvenile Delinquency convened. As a result of these hearings, comic book publishers feared government regulation and formed their own self-regulatory body that created the Comics Code Authority, bowdlerizing comics of everything from violence to divorce. For 57 years this code affected comics publishing in one form or another. In late January of 2011, DC Comics and Archie Comics (the last surviving members of the original pact) both decided to drop the Comics Code from their products. Comics are free to make kids evil again and the world will never be the same. THINK OF THE CHILDREN is a 24-page, one-shot, satirical horror comic about the events leading to the original Comics Code Authority. The members of the Senate Subcommittee are secret monster hunters, seeking to destroy evil children, who they believe are corrupted by the stories of EC Comics.
