Plot Details And New Character Images For How To Train Your Dragon 2

It’s a big time for the publishers of License Global, with their new issue coinciding with the Las Vegas Licensing Expo. They must feel like the elves at Handcarved Toys Monthly in the run up to Christmas.

I’ve had a flick through Global’s latest 194-page edition, and found quite a lot of How to Train Your Dragon sequel stuff tucked away in there.

Let’s start with the plot blurb. This is a description of Dragon 2 that I’ve never seen anywhere else.

A slightly different blurb was doing the rounds a few months back. I can’t source it, precisely, but it popped up on various Wikis and it seems to mesh with the above:

Hiccup and Toothless lead hundreds of hero dragons in defense of Dragon Mountain, battling against Drago Bloodfist’s huge army of Dragon Hunters and their ruthless war machines. The mighty Bewilderbeast, Master of Dragon Mountain, rises to join Hiccup against Drago’s forces, but Drago has a secret weapon – his own enslaved Bewilderbeast arrives to turn the tide. Hiccup and Drago lead their massive armies in an epic showdown.

The pages of Licensing Global also gave up a couple of images showing Dragon characters Hiccup and Astrid in their more grown up, leather-clad incarnations.

A quick dig turned up some other new images on Tumblr. There’s a little repetition, but what appears to be completely new characters too.

We can look forward to How To Train Your Dragon 2 next June. I should hope that director Dean DeBlois will be able to build on his sterling work in the first chapter – and I’m also curious to see what effect planning this next film at the same time as the third will have. Will the seeds of Dragon 3 be obvious or more subtle?
