Undoubtedly one of my most anticipated releases for the rest of this year is Big Bad Wolves, the second film by Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado. It’s a revenge thriller, and reputedly a tense, twisty and very smart one. It also seems to have something to say about Israel, from an Israeli point of view, and that’s pretty rare for films released in English speaking countries.
After the film screened at the Tribeca festival this year, the buzz about a US-remake was considerable. Consider this your advice to get in on the ground floor.
Keshales and Papushado’s first feature, Rabies, was one of the more interesting slasher movies I’ve ever seen, disrupting the form and inserting some wry, satirical gags. It’s most definitely worth catching up with on DVD if you can.
