Trailers For Summer Tentpole Rip-Offs Atlantic Rim And AE: Apocalypse Earth

Though the title and some of the concept is clearly inspired by M. Night Shyamalan‘s After Earth, this trailer for The Asylum’s knock-off picture AE: Apocalypse Earth shows the stronger influence of Avatar and Predator.

The trailer for Atlantic Rim, however, is all Pacific Rim  – while, of course, looking like a mere fraction of the real thing. Still, it does genuinely look like director Jared Cohn has ambition.

You know what? I’m definitely going to watch this film. And if I enjoy it, I’ll let you know.

Note: the Atlantic Rim appears to be undergoing a name change to From The Sea. I don’t think any reason that The Asylum would do this at the eleventh hour is actually too mysterious.

Thanks to Topless Robot for the Atlantic Rim embed.
