A Comic Show – Age Of Ultron Gets Crazier

Aaron Haaland of A Comic Shop in Florida writes;

Hey Fandom! I'm back, still a little sick and not at 100%, but I'm on antibiotics. This week has so much more creator owned and licensed stuff I'm in to than Marvel and DC (and you know I'm a super hero fanboy).

First, Marvel's Age of Ultron has just gone totally out there with #8. It has a lot of the craziness of House of M and AoA and a sort of Flashpoint feel, these company reality bending crossovers all bleed together in my mind in ways, but the ride's been fun. I'm ready to see what the Marvel Now effects are and what's up with the Dr. Pym.

Justice League of America's Vibe is my jam. I can sure identify with the underdog hero and it's clear Sterling Gates does too. And yes, Vibe is a Justice League family title, but it's still a quirky off beat book in the vein of Aztek that doesn't feel like just another bat book. I'm sad to see Dial H and Demon Knights go, but that makes me want to promote Vibe more!

Charles Soule is my new fav writer, you may know him from 27 or the two recent issues of Swamp Thing. His original hardcover Strange Attractors will win over anyone who gives it a shot. It's the kind of book Vertigo used to put out, wildly imaginative slightly eschew looks at our world that make me feel smarter after reading them. Soule is going places, more and more fans will be following him there!

My Little Pony's first collection is out, I get that some comic fans don't get or like MLP, but for those that do this book is magic. Andy Price's art captures the feel of the show on the comic page. Kaboom has been rocking out Adventure Time comics and now we have an awesome original graphic novel. That's some fan service. Now they're doing Regular Show too, and the first issue was a great start. I'm happy both to get some great comics of licensed properties I enjoy and to get fans of these shows in comic shops and hopefully trying other stuff this industry has to offer.
