I think we’re all ready for a Neil Gaiman episode, aren’t we? A Nightmare in Silver is coming up, complete with our live blog. And then She Said, He Said, the “prologue” to next week’s episode – we’ll live blog that too, straight after the main episode.
So, if you’re sitting comfortably… well, then keep sitting comfortably. Put your feet up, even.
Okay, this prequel will definitely be part of a Ten Thoughts I’ll put together tonight. Tranzelore bound!
That bit about her saving his life over and over? Well… that came up in another post earlier today, didn’t it…
Or you can watch it here on Bleeding Cool – http://www.bleedingcool.com/2013/05/11/video-watch-the-doctor-who-minisode-he-said-she-said/
A museum version of Clara? A 3D portrait….
Here’s that trailer again – http://www.bleedingcool.com/2013/05/11/trailer-for-next-weeks-doctor-who-finale-the-name-of-the-doctor/
Prequel on the red button! Must press!
“What is your name?” – there we go. We’re finally at that point.
I don’t think anybody could call that skirt tight. Flouncy, yes. Tight? No.
Okay, a TARDIS created phone. That won’t cause any problems will it?
Getting mixed signals from the Tardis showing up and having that Cyberman colour scheme.
I bet if he looked like Brad Pitt she’d say yes.
Matt Smith has done such a great job tonight.
Is this a slightly reworked, repurposed set from the Akhaten episode? I’m pretty sure it is.
Yes, and it was also obvious that the choice whether or not to destroy the planet would come to Porridge, but it’s meaningful that it did.
Yes, she’s right, it was obvious 8-)
How many Doctors did he say? Eleven? I do think so, but I also think I probably lost count.
They’re not knights and it’s not a castle but that’s what they look like. Ties into chess with the Rooks and Knights too. Even the basic imagery of this thing is mirroring back and forth and linking up in resonant ways.
The longer this goes on the more Evil Dead 2 it gets. Groovy!
Something about the smoothness of the Cyberman faces that takes me back to their very original appearance.
Something tells me these upgraded Cybermen can fly.
Wow. That was fun – seeing Matt Smith doing his other Doctors impersonations. We could have done with more of that.
Why does a Cyber Doctor have a Northern accent? Lots of Cyber planets have a North.
“Now!” she shouts, meaning “In a second, after the charging up animation.”
I’m kicking myself for not connecting Golden Ticket to the Cyberweakness.
They’re creep and they’re kooky, the Cyber family
Ah, the killer hand. What was that I was saying about Evil Dead 2?
There’s no reason for him to have been saying any of that out loud, but hey, I’m glad to have heard it.
Isn’t this the plot of War games?
There was tonight’s callback to the old Doctors. As we knew them. Are they sure somebody wasn’t missing?
If I had a second I’d go see how many millions of Tumblr posts simply say “Mr. Clever” already.
The Borg nicked from the Cyberman. Good to see the Cybermen stealing back.
The good-bad split is a well-played trope. Superman 2 had fun with it, but Evil Dead 2 beats everything on this front, I reckon.
In Zombieland, to some extent, Rich.
Cybermites. Toys for Christmas?
I’m enjoying the use of the aspects of a theme park as an actual defensible position. Brendon has that been done before?
I don’t know what Cybermen want with kids, but they’re not alone in favouring the little ones in the Who-verse. Not by any means.
Cybermites. I had been wondering what we’d call them.
This might cause a fan fuss a bit like the whole ‘fast zombies’ thing.
The FX for the Cyberman moving quickly are a bit naff aren’t they? But I do like the new build.
“Ansible class” – a reference to the ansible, as created by Ursula K. Le Guin in Rocannon’s World.
I assume Warwick Davies’ costume is a nod and a wink towards Time Bandits. Gaiman and Gilliam are friends, and collaborators after all – http://www.bleedingcool.com/2013/05/06/terry-gilliam-and-neil-gaiman-are-cooking-something-up-together-but-what/
This episode was going by the name of The Last Cyberman for a very long time. That would have been him there.
I refer you to The Mechanical Turk – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Turk
A soldier in lipstick. Don’t get many of those. Not on tele, anyhow.
That’s no moon…
