Lily James Is Disney And Kenneth Branagh’s Cinderella

lily-james-cinderella-downton-abbeyFinally, Disney have officially announced their now Cinderella and it’s Lily James.

Hannah Shaw-Williams interviewed her for us once. If I remember correctly, she was apparently rather nice, can’t run very fast and ranks Save The Last Dance as one of her favourite sporting films – bending the definition somewhat.

Kenneth Branagh is directing the new Cinderella from a screenplay by Aline Brosh McKenna and Chris Weitz, and that’s not a bad roster of talent. What gives me pause, though, is that Mark Romanek saw fit to leave the project, and I know he’ll have had his reasons.

Cate Blanchett is already in place as the step mother. I’m curious how they’ll handle the sisters – will they go for full-on Pantomime ugliness?
