We’d heard an unsubstantiated rumour that several of The Elders of the Universe would be cropping up, however briefly, in the Guardians of the Galaxy film. This feels more plausible to me now that The Hollywood Reporter have put The Collector in the frame.
They describe the character as:
A near-immortal being… who gathers artifacts and beings in the hopes of saving them from a foretold galactic annihilation.
Which seems fair enough.
There’s no casting for The Collector yet, but Ophelia Lovibond has been recruited to fill an associated role. While THR surmise that she’ll be playing some kind of “assistant,” I would speculate that she might be his daughter, Carina.
Lovibond is not yet so well known in the US, perhaps being most visible in Mr. Popper’s Penguins. She had a run on Holby City here in the UK, though, and cropped up on Chris Morris’ and Charlie Brooker’s Nathan Barley.
