Guardians Of The Galaxy Makes Space And Time For Michael Rooker As Yondu

yonduThough Marvel’s “line up” image from the famous Comic-Con concept art didn’t show him, the Guardians of the Galaxy film will have some space for Yondu Udonta, founder member of the team.

Back in ’69 when the comic launched, Yondu was a Guardian alongside Vance Astro, Martinex T’Nega, Captain Charlie 27 and, as far as I can understand, some other rotating players. Will we see many more of these characters in the film? Mmmmmm….aybe?

According to Deadline, James Gunn has cast his good friend and regular collaborator Michael Rooker in the role. That makes perfect sense but where I’m a touch confused is that Yondu was part of the 31st Century Guardians, while the other known characters in the movie are from the 21st Century lineup.

Does this indicate a time travel storyline? Well, I wouldn’t have thought so. Marvel are quite happy to remodel their comic book story lines in anyway that suits their movie plans. Honestly, they’ll rework anything and anyone in all manner of ways – wait until you see Iron Man 3. And so they should. They’re making movies here, not shrines to comic books.
