A few months back we told you that Harry Potter director David Yates was going to be taking on a live-action Tarzan adaption. It was all looking good with Alex Skarsgard attached and there were rumours of Samuel L. Jackson and Jessica Chastain‘s involvement.

However, Deadline are now reporting the movie has dropped by the way side as it failed to come together because of what looks to be budgetary reasons. Although, it could also be down to the cast moving on to other projects while the movie failed to go into production.

It looks like the studio are willing to try again next year with David Yates still attached but I wouldn’t be holding my breath. A live action Tarzan has been on the cards for the best part of a decade now and it has never quite come together.
