Edgar Wright Started A Rumour That Ant Man Is In Iron Man 3… Then Denied It

Last night, Edgar Wright started a guessing game, and inevitable torrents of rumourmongering, with a single, teasing tweet:

Of course, the internet jumped to the conclusion that he was referring to Iron Man 3, and that the shot in question would be an introduction to Ant Man.

Seems… to… make… sense, right? Well, Wright has since denied it and I think we can believe him.

But he does say that some of Twitter did guess right.

The other guess that a huge number of people made was Thor: The Dark World. Again, the thinking is that there will be an Ant Man tag or cameo of some kind. And I suppose that’s a very real possibility. Jane Foster meets Hank Pym in a lab someplace… though that would likely require Pym to have been cast already, and I doubt he has.

And Thor 2 isn’t a summer movie. Last I checked, Summer still ends in August despite now apparently starting in… August.

My hunch is that Wright shot a tiny bit of second unit for Star Trek Into Darkness. Perhaps he’ll ‘fess up. Or perhaps he’ll keep playing.

Wright’s own movie, The World’s End, will be along in August. Apparently devoid of apocalyptic floods or singing zombies, it instead seems to promise humanoid robotic-looking things, grey, visored and about ten feet tall… oh, and some of Britain’s finest actors, all at once. And a pub crawl.
