Unconventional Matters – The 9th Art Festival Prize

A British special edition of Unconventional Matters…

I hear the Edinburgh Book Festival has a large focus on comics and graphic novels this year – including the launch of a major prize being touted as the Man Booker for Graphic Novels – the 9th Art Festival Prize is the name.

Can you guess who’ll be at the 2D Comics Festival from their visual montage?

Controversy at Thought Bubble – they announced small press and dealers tables booking was open while many of dealers were exhibiting at the London Super Con earlier this year, and many regulars were disappointed as a result. Now some are calling “fix” as show sponsor Travelling Man appears to be the only dealer, aside from publisher Titan, at the show…

And look forward to DC Senior VP Bob Wayne wandering the booths of the MCM London Expo, he’ll be down for the retailer show the day before…

And if you can’t get to a show, how about a shop?

Gosh! Comics in London has Pat Mills and Kevin O’Neill signing copies of the new Marshal Law Omnibus, a launch party for Tom Gauld‘s You’re All Just Jealous Of My Jetpack with an exclusive Gosh! bookplate edition out on the same day and Ian Gibson is signing copies of the new edition of Halo Jones.
