And here’s where everyone went after the panel;
Starro cosplayer Will Romine, who was late for the panel, tells Bleeding Cool;
Had a little plane trouble, so I only caught the q and a of the DC All Access panel. Oh well, a little DC is better than no DC at all. Here are some highlights. It’s a little rough and dirty, but that’s how I roll.
-Your favorite Starro cosplayer asked whether DC editorial is relaxing their policy on cross-pollinating Earth 1 and 2 characters. James Robinson said that that policy has been relaxed. Possibly, we might see some more dual-versions of the same character.
-James Robinson said that the Batman in Earth 2 will not be a flash in the pan crazy, but a character who will have staying power.
- Doom Patrol might show up. (Not a resounding yes, but the panel seemed coy enough to leave the possibility open.)
-What characters would you like to bring back?
Ralph and Sue Dibney, Det. Chimp, Renee Montoya, Doom Patrol
wasn’t designed to be a robin, more of a street level “everywoman”. Regardless of who she becomes, she’s an important part of Snyder’s bat-mythology.
-Significance of Superman Unchained? Not Snyder’s call, but he loves the iconic image of Superman bursting through chains. Also, a conscious decision to not use “Man of Steel”, given this summer’s cinema offerings.
-An awesome riddler cosplayer got Snyder to spill a significant Riddler story in the not too distant future.
I’m going to be at Wondercon all weekend. Give me a follow @notacomplainer
Alex Segura takes a shot…
Teases of a return for Doom Patrol in the Q&A. Snyder states that Harper Row is not here to replace Robin (but of course doesn’t rule it out- out money is on the latest iteration of Ragged Robin anyway). And thankfully no one brought up any unfortunate news from DC’s past couple of weeks. Well, that would just be rude…
Robinson also says that characters are much less likely to have the same version of a character appearing in the DCU and Earth 2.
A Riddler cosplayer asks if Scott Snyder will write a Riddler story and Snyder says there will be a big one coming up. He doesn’t say that it’s Year Zero, which it is.
Earth Two’s Annual will introduce a new Batman. And James Robinson promises that he won’t be killed after two issues. Honest.
Also, Fury is not Donna Troy…and the nature of her father will, apparently, be mind blowing.
The back plot of Injustice is basically there to explain why Superman doesn’t just kill Flash when he punches him. And for that pregnant Lois and all of Metropolis had to die?
James Robinson asks if Captain Steel is the only currently published Filipino superhero? Internet, answer him!
Matt Kindt is writing Martin Manhunter backups to Justice League Of America as an answer to whatever happens in that issue. A kind of call and response.
Bryan Q Miller is talking Smallville, as Clark and Booster Gold meet the Legion Of Superheroes in the 31st Century with Supergirl, who has been there since the TV series. Oh and yes, she wears trousers.
The crowd loves Mike Allred’s covers for Batman ’66, and it will be collected in print after digital.
Snyder and Murphy’s The Wake opens with a winged girl talking to a dolphin in a space helmet on a world flooded with water. Saga meets Doom Patrol?
Scott Snyder says Jim Lee could make the phone book amazing. Yes, Scott, but it would take the rest of his life…
“To give Katana her own book was a very courageous thing for DC” says Ann Nocenti. “Courageous” is one of the Yes Minister words for a foolish decision, isn’t it?
James Robinson says he’s laying groundwork for big Earth 2 event coming up.
DC Comics are trying to get the hashtags all to themselves by trying to get people to tweet with #DCWC. Ruin their plans by making it #BCWC.
The Earth 2 hardcover will be number 1 on the NY Times best seller list on April 7th.
Scott Snyder says Batman Zero Year will be a Batman origin you’ve never seen before.
Superman Unchained will have a two sided, 4 page fold-out in Issue 1.
