The Wolverine - New Images Reveal Viper, Yukio, Mariko And More

There’s a bright, hard look to some of the colours in The Wolverine, as befits a film punched through with the neon lights of Japan. Then, at other times, things are very dark, and the shadows eat up the image.

You’ll see both of those looks in this set of new images from Entertainment Weekly. You’ll also get your first in-character looks at Yukio, Viper and Mariko, the three lead female roles.

Mark my words when I tell you that Yukio, as played by Rila Fukushima, is going to walk right out of this film with fanboy hearts still beating in her hands.

The images are annotated at the original EW piece, revealing:

At the time this movie opens, there’s a kind of gangland war going on between law enforcement and the Yakuza, and there’s been a lot of kidnappings and extortion…

and

[Viper] is brought in to help another one of the film’s baddies… [she] views Logan like a great hunter might view hunting a lion in his quarry. There’s kind of an admiration, a desire to destroy and a desire to consume and to have and to hold.

and

A funeral at a Japanese temple is interrupted by an attack by the Yakuza which naturally brings out Wolverine’s claws.

Amongst a few other bits and pieces.

There’s a lot more Wolverine to come, including some pretty groovy stuff in future issues of Bleeding Cool Magazine…
