Death Wish Remake Still On, Gets New Director - Miss Bala's Gerardo Naranjo

Joe Carnahan left the remake of Death Wish after failing to agree with MGM on who should lead the picture. Word at the time was that the studio wanted Bruce Willis but Carnahan didn’t. They also spoke with Brad Pitt and Will Smith, apparently.

We don’t know yet if Willis, Pitt or Smith have become attached to the film, or maybe even signed, but word is out on the new director.

According to Variety, Gerardo Naranjo is set to take charge. They seem to have given him a brand new nickname too, derived from his other in-development picture, The Mountains Between Us.

They’re likely to edit it, so I screencapped it. Like a schoolboy.

I spoke to Naranjo when his definitely-recommended movie Miss Bala was coming out. He’s certainly a fascinating choice for Death Wish. I wonder what he’s going to do with it?

And here’s one single shot from Miss Bala to show you just a little of how he’s done things before.
