UPDATE: Coming Soon are saying that they have confirmation Alan Cumming won’t be in the film. They add nothing more, don’t have an exact quote and don’t reveal a source. Still, it’s the best info we have, and I have no reason to doubt it.
The original copy for the story follows.
James McAvoy has said a couple of times now that while he’s received his script for X-Men: Days of Future Past, he hasn’t yet read it.
This doesn’t mean he won’t have skimmed it, mind. It might be by thumbing through those pages that he came to the conclusion he won’t be sharing any scenes with Patrick Stewart – another little something he’s let slip in interviews of late.
And it might also be because he saw the word Nightcrawler here and there that he’s think Alan Cumming will be back for more.
Speaking to Heat Radio lately, on occasion of Welcome to the Punch gearing up for its UK cinema release, McAvoy rattled off a list of actors that comprise the “huge” cast of Future Past:
You got me, [Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender,] Nicholas Hoult will be back, and he’s just blossoming massively over [in America]. Patrick Stewart, Ian Mckellen, Halle Berry, Alan Cumming, Peter Dinklage I hear mentioned – I don’t know if that’s happening – “Huge” Jackman is coming by, he’s massive, 7’5″ and muscley.
That transcript is courtesy of X-Men Films. You can listen to the whole interview in the player at the foot of the story.
If Nightcrawler is back, and he has a crucial role to play – Bryan Singer claims all of the characters in his script have some very important function – then I wonder if he’s going to come face to face with Azazel, the character who was his father in the comics?
Jason Flemyng certainly believed he’d be coming back to reprise that role when Matthew Vaughn was directing the film… but has that changed more recently?
Only time and Bryan Singer’s Twitter feed will tell.
