Appearing on the ITV magazine programme This Morning this morning, John Barrowman expressed his belief that Captain Jack Harkness will soon be coming back. Specifically, he seemed to be saying that his negotiations with the BBC started…. today?
Here’s the video in very poor quality:
Barrowman has subsequently tempered the excitement somewhat by tweeting:
Re 50th I didn’t say in what capacity or what medium so stay calm and carry on . Jb

Harkness first appeared in The Empty Child, an episode of Who written by current showrunner Steven Moffat. He hasn’t, however, written for the character since. He’s a character very much associated with Russell T. Davies, not least because of the Torchwood spin-off that Davis created and which revolves around Harkness. For this, an other reasons, I have to say I’m personally a little surprised that he might be coming back.
