This Hannibal Trailer Doesn’t Look Anything Like The Hannibal Movies, Or Any Other Procedural On TV

The second, fuller trailer for NBC’s Hannibal gives us a good idea of what the show is going to look like. The pilot was directed by David Slade but there’s enough pop in the colours and compositions to suggest showrunner Bryan Fuller’s influence might be the major one. Fuller has shown a real taste for very orgqnised, often rather geometric and sometimes contrasty images. At a pinch, I’d guess his favourite painter is Grant Wood.

So that is what looks like when Hard Candy and 30 Days of Night meets Pushing Daisies and Dead Like Me.

None of that will matter at all if the scripts don’t cut it. Again, the involvement of Fuller suggests they will. The cast is cracking too.

Hannibal kicks off on NBC on April 4th.
