After a couple of CG-heavy teasers, HBO have finally delivered the first trailer for David Mamet‘s Phil Spector to show off actual footage.
There’s some spectacular wigging out going on here but I’m not sure I can grasp quite what this story is going to be about. Is this going to be an account of Spector’s time in custody and trial? Of his whole adult life? Or what? Where’s the starting point here?
That was not too gripping and seemed more than a little bit silly but I think that’s probably because it was so shapeless. Mamet’s a fully capable writer-director, though, so I’d expect this will all make sense in full, when there’s actually proper storytelling happening.
