Captain America’s New Female Lead Is Emily VanCamp

Though nobody is calling the part Pegg… er… Sharon Carter, it looks like Emily VanCamp has been cast as the female lead of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Deadline had the story first. VanCamp didn’t appear on any of the short lists, which increasingly seems to be the way in these things.

Van Camp is probably best known for starring in the TV series Revenge, which I once watched for five outrageously camp minutes. I might watch another five minutes sometime.

I have a hunch that Marvel will set VanCamp up for the movie with a part in the SHIELD TV show, if she is indeed playing Ms. Carter, and if their Carter is still going to be Agent 13 – both of which I expect to be true.
