Doctor Who’s Anniversary Drama An Adventure Of Space And Time – Casting Revealed

The BBC have announced the cast for An Adventure of Space and Time, their drama special about the creation of Doctor Who.

The role of William Hartnell, the actor who played the first Doctor, has gone to David Bradley – who I last saw in Doctor Who. He was the bad guy in Dinosaurs on a Spaceship.

Call the Midwife‘s Jessica Raine is going to play producer Verity Lambert. Incidentally, she’s in an upcoming episode of Who, too. Is this deliberate?

Then sometime Hannibal Lecter Brian Cox will be the BBC’s head of drama Sydney Newman and Sacha Dhawan will play Waris Hussein, the director of the first ever episode of Doctor Who, The Unearthly Child.

That’s some real talent – and so it goes behind the camera. Like actually behind the camera, not behind the camera in front of the camera like that lot above.

Mark Gatiss has written the script and Breaking Bad alum Terry McDonough will be directing.
