New Trailer For Blazing Hot Body Horror Pic, American Mary

There was a short trailer for American Mary before, but now that the film is nearing its UK release, a longer one has been unveiled over at Empire. You can see both below, though if you’re already keen to see the movie – and I really think you should, it’s pretty darn good – then skip them. They spoil some of the best surprises and reveals.

The film stars Katharine Isabelle of Ginger Snaps as Mary Mason, a trainee surgeon who steps up to save a life under strange circumstances, then finds this act of grace leads to her falling into an increasingly extreme underworld of body modification and unnecessary surgeries.

I saw American Mary at Frightfest, where it wowed the crowd. In the meantime, most bloggers and critics I know have been proudly waxing about it.

The film will be touring the UK in January with personal appearances and presumably Q&As from Isabelle and writer-directors Jen and Sylvia Soska, who you would have seen in the trailers if you didn’t take my advice to save yourself for the movie itself.

Here’s a list of the wheres and whens.

Fri January 11 – Prince Charles Cinema, London
020 7494 3654,

Sat January 12 – Edinburgh Filmhouse

No Oxford? We were robbed.

Shortly after this on January 21st, the film will be released on UK DVD and Blu-ray. That option, though, doesn’t come with your chance to ask the Soska Sisters or Ms. Isabelle about Prince Alberts or meditative suspension on hooks through the flesh.
