Tuesday Trending Topics: Of Cosplayers And Nerds

Tuesday Trending Topics: Of Cosplayers And NerdsThis thing about nerd cred… I just don't know.  Being a nerd has been a mainstream thing for a loooonng time.  It's not something that can or should be contained or kept niche.  Some of the most famous nerds of the 60s and 70s went onto become some of the most powerful people in Hollywood (see proto-nerd patient zero at right for Exhibit A).  The most famous nerds of the 80s and 90s became software billionaires.  And so on. Countless examples both big and small of nerds swimming towards the mainstream and making it better. It is the nature and purpose of the nerd to inflame the rest of the population with what it currently means to be a nerd — like human cultural antibodies that keep the world from getting too boring.

Rumour: Darth Vader To Come Back From The Dead For Episode 7

The story of the Star Wars movies so far has been the story of Darth Vader, narrated from the margins by a pair of droids. The tin twosome made it out of Return of the Jedi intact, but the last time we saw Vader, or perhaps more properly Anakin Skywalker, he was on his funeral pyre.

Bryan Singer Shares A Giant's Face And Some X-Men Info

Two shots in the original Jack the Giant Slayer trailer, back when he was a Killer and on schedule for 2012, gave us quite severely obscured or obtuse looks at the face of a giant. Now the film has a 2013 release date and we're heading for the big, end-of-year family blockbusters, so Bryan Singer has got to work readying a new trailer and tweeted out a couple of snaps of the shots it will contain.
