First Trailer For David Fincher’s House Of Cards With Kevin Spacey – UDPATED

David Fincher and Kevin Spacey have a pretty high bar to clear in remaking the BBC drama House of Cards. The original featured some of the best writing by Andrew Davies and the cast, headed up by Ian Richardson, were largely fantastic.

But they’re trying.

The first trailer for the remake has appeared over at Netflix (found via Twitter). As you may recall, this series was the first original Netflix commission.

UPDATE: Here’s an embedded version of the trailer that will work even if you can’t get into Netflix. I understand it was only working for subscribers and a small handful of others before.

The series will go live on Netflix in the US and UK on February 1st. Fincher directed the first two episodes and the whole thing was scripted by Beau Willimon, the playwright who adapted his cracking Farragut North into The Ides of March. This will comprise the first block of 13 episodes, with 13 already commissioned follow-ons to shoot and be released later.
