This World War Z trailer frames zombie action not as ‘cabin in the woods’ survivalism but epic, global disaster on a Roland Emmerich scale.

Of course, looking at that, I can’t help but wonder what comes from the original shoot and what comes from the recent reworking.

Max Brooks’ original book was on a huge scale, and featured a wide array of characters. This film, or at least this trailer, is hanging on the rather more typical model of a hero struggling to stay afloat in a world going to hell. The family stuff is very reminiscent of other pictures too, not least Spielberg’s War of the Worlds.
