Zack Snyder On The How And Why Of Man Of Steel’s Now-Official 3D Conversion

Well, of course Man of Steel was going to be released in 3D. You weren’t it expecting it not to be, were you?

Warner Bros. finally made the official announcement today, and included this quote from director Zack Snyder:

The film is going to be a visually exciting experience in all formats: 2D, 3D and IMAX. Anticipating how audiences today embrace 3D, we designed and photographed the movie in a way that would allow Man of Steel to captivate those movie goers, while respecting fans who prefer a more traditional cinematic experience. We’ve taken great measures to ensure the film and the story come first, and 3D is meant as an enhancement.

Yeah, that’s supposed to sound like the optimum, but it isn’t working here. This is positioning 3D as some sort of adjunct. I’m a lover of 3D and this is putting me off so I can only imagine what the baying haters will make of it.

The film will be released, in all of its formats, next June 14th.
